The Reason Behind It All

Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I was recently at an event where there was just time to worship, pray, spend time in the word, and just be. During this event I took a bible and sat by myself just reading the word of God. He brought me to Isaiah 43. Quietly, I read this passage out loud to myself over and over again until the words had deeply sunk in. Fast forward an hour or so, I was getting my coat on to leave. A man, who I did not know, came up to me and asked what my name was. I replied, “Isabelle..?” a little hesitant to what he was about to say. He looked at me and said, “Isabelle, God gave me a few verses for you tonight, do you mind if I read them?” I of course said yes, and he continued to say, “They are from Isaiah 43.” My heart exploded with joy, for this was the exact chapter I was reading to myself earlier. He went on to read the start of this passage.

“But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: ‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And when you pass through rivers, they shall not sweep over you.'”

A question I get a lot from people is, “why?” I often ask myself these questions as well. “Why are you packing up your things and leaving your very loved family and friends behind to go spend 3 months in an unfamiliar place with unfamiliar people?” Sometimes it feels very overwhelming and that I’m drowning in my own questions. However I have an answer to all of these questions. God answers all of these questions for me. Jesus is mine, and I am His. What a beautiful thing. I need to tell other people that Jesus is THEIRS and that THEY are His. That, is the reason why. That is the reason behind it all. It’s going to be hard. It’s going to feel like I’m drowning at some points, but as Jesus says in Isaiah 43, He will be with me in the waters and they will not sweep over me.

How you can be helping me:

Pray that when I don’t have the answers, I remember that Jesus does

With love,

Isabelle

  1. I love your “why”, Isabelle! I also love how God has confirmed this to you by friends and strangers alike. I’m so excited to see how God will continue to reveal himself to you as you prepare to go to Africa and even more so while you’re there. So proud of you! 🙂
